Offence Summary

A paedophile voyeur who hid cameras in a shop toilet in Romford and possessed images of baby rape was jailed.

Full Description

A paedophile who hid cameras inside his workplace toilets in Romford and shared extreme sexual fantasies about children and dismembered bodies was jailed, a south Essex court heard. Nirav Vaja, who worked at the One Beyond store, secretly filmed staff and customers using the facilities before his horrific collection of child abuse images was uncovered.

Essex Police discovered that Vaja had amassed a sickening library of indecent images, including footage showing the rape of a baby. The investigation also revealed he had been using online chatrooms to discuss his depraved interests with other sex offenders, telling fellow perverts he wanted to have sex with dead and dismembered bodies.

The court was told that Vaja’s voyeurism involved him concealing recording devices in the shop’s toilets, violating the privacy of innocent members of the public. His actions came to light after police were alerted to his possession of illegal material, leading to a search of his devices and the subsequent discovery of the toilet recordings.

At a hearing in Essex, Vaja was sentenced to a term of imprisonment, having admitted or been convicted of multiple sex offences. The judge condemned his “utterly depraved” conduct and noted the profound harm caused by both the voyeurism and the possession of images depicting the worst kind of child sexual abuse. An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Vaja is a dangerous individual who poses a significant risk to the public. We are committed to bringing such offenders to justice and protecting our communities.”
