Offence Summary

Andrew Cullis, a convicted sex offender from Swanley, was caught possessing a USB drive containing indecent images of children during a routine police check and sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

Full Description

A sex offender from Swanley, Kent, has been imprisoned for possessing indecent images of children. Andrew Cullis, aged 43, was already registered as a convicted sex offender when police conducted routine management checks at his home.

On 1 February 2023, officers from Kent Police visited Cullis's residence on Lynden Way in Swanley as part of standard sex offender monitoring procedures. During the search, they discovered a USB drive containing explicit images of children. Forensic analysis of the device confirmed the presence of child abuse material, leading to Cullis's arrest.

Cullis appeared at Maidstone Crown Court last month, where he pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children. The court heard that the images were of varying severity, breaching the conditions of his prior conviction. Judge [Name not specified] imposed a custodial sentence, emphasising the need to protect children from such exploitation.

Sentence Details: Cullis received two years and four months' imprisonment. He will also be subject to an extended period on the sex offenders' register upon release. Kent Police stated, 'We take our responsibility to manage registered sex offenders seriously, and this case demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding the community.'

The case was reported by Josh Bolton, court and crime reporter for This is Local London, based on information from Kent Police and court records. Swanley, located in the Dartford borough of Kent, has seen increased police vigilance on such matters following recent local incidents.
