Offence Summary

Mohsen Farjam exploited a vulnerable 15-year-old girl with a neurodevelopmental condition in Stockport by grooming her under the pretence of offering help, then sexually assaulted and raped her after plying her with alcohol. He was convicted and jailed for nine-and-a-half years at Manchester Crown Court.

Full Description

In July 2018, Mohsen Farjam, a man of no fixed abode born on 2 May 1982, targeted a vulnerable 15-year-old girl who has a neurodevelopmental condition in Stockport, Greater Manchester. The incident unfolded when the girl was alone and upset in the town centre, prompting Farjam to approach her by feigning concern and offering sympathy, claiming he was homeless himself. He convinced her to get food nearby and charge her devices, building a false sense of trust.

Farjam then lured the girl to a tent on the outskirts of the centre where he was living. There, he plied her with vodka, exploiting her vulnerability further. As she appeared nervous, he began inappropriately touching her, leading to two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of sexual assault by penetration. The attacks were brutal and premeditated, with Farjam disguising his intentions as an offer of support for a child in need.

Following the assault, the brave victim managed to leave the tent and confided in a relative, who promptly informed Greater Manchester Police. Farjam was arrested just hours later. During questioning, he denied all allegations, showing no remorse, and fabricated a story that he had taken the girl to his tent for a massage and was seeking help for the homeless community.

The investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Stockport Complex safeguarding team was extensive, involving the review of tens of thousands of pages of material and close collaboration with the victim and relevant partners. Despite the challenges due to the case's nature and the passage of time, detectives persisted, leading to Farjam's trial at Manchester Crown Court.

On 5 March 2026, Farjam was found guilty on all five charges and sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in prison. In addition to the custodial sentence, he was placed on the sex offenders' register for life. Detective Sergeant Rob Griffiths from GMP’s Stockport Complex safeguarding team commended the victim's bravery, stating: “Farjam exploited vulnerabilities for his own sickening gratification, and it is utterly grim that he tried to disguise his intentions by pretending to want to help a child in need. Instead, he got her drunk and exploited her as part of his vile actions. I am glad that he is now finally behind bars for his crimes.” This case underscores the dedicated efforts of GMP in supporting victims and bringing perpetrators to justice, as detailed in the official Greater Manchester Police news release.
