Offence Summary

Calum Main was sentenced for sexually assaulting a man in an Aberdeen bar by repeatedly kissing him, fondling his genitals, and other non-consensual acts.

Full Description

A Moray businessman, Calum Main, has been placed on the sex offenders register following his conviction for sexual assault in an Aberdeen bar. The incident occurred on September 16, 2024, at Cheerz Bar, where Main, aged 42 and from Park Street in Hopeman, engaged in a series of unwanted physical advances towards another man.

According to court documents presented at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Main repeatedly kissed the victim's mouth and neck, fondled his genitals without consent, attempted to kiss him on the cheek, touched his body, hugged him, and bit him on the ear. Additionally, Main presented his own cheek to the victim and encouraged him to kiss it, actions that were all carried out without the victim's agreement. The trial, which took place on August 25, 2025, resulted in Main being found guilty of these offences.

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane delivered the sentence on October 21, 2025, opting for a non-custodial approach. Main received a six-month community payback order, which includes mandatory social work supervision and participation in a sex offenders rehabilitation programme. He was also subjected to Sex Offenders Act notification requirements for the duration of six months, requiring him to register as a sex offender during this period.

Main, who previously operated Calum’s Kitchen in Alves, later ran a café at Moray Sports Centre and a catering van, saw his professional background detailed in court as part of the case context. The sentencing reflects the seriousness of the sexual assault charges while allowing for community-based rehabilitation. This case was reported by the Northern Scot newspaper, with details sourced from official court proceedings at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
