Offence Summary

Andrew Morris raped and sexually assaulted a vulnerable man in his 30s at a property in Lancaster. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison, comprising eight years custody and a six-year extended licence period.

Full Description

Andrew Morris, a 63-year-old man of no fixed address, was jailed for 14 years after pleading guilty to raping and sexually assaulting a vulnerable man in his 30s. The attack occurred at a property in Lancaster on the weekend of 8 and 9 March 2025. The victim, who suffers from anxiety and depression, knew Morris and initially believed him to be a friend.

The incident came to light when the victim reported the rape to a care support worker. Lancashire Police arrested Morris on suspicion of rape shortly thereafter. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, he was charged with one count of rape of a man aged over 16 and two counts of sexual assault on a male. Morris had been residing in Lancaster since 2017, after previously serving a prison sentence for raping another man in Nottingham.

At Preston Crown Court on Friday, 6 March 2026, Judge [name not specified] sentenced Morris to eight years in prison, with an additional six-year extended licence period, totalling 14 years. In his victim personal statement, the man described the profound impact of the assault: 'I was extremely upset after the rape happened, it was not something that I wanted to happen. I have no sexual attraction to males. I thought that he was being friendly but that was all lies. I am very careful now and do not make friends with anyone. Therefore, I feel more isolated than before.'

Lancashire Police commended the victim's courage in reporting the crime, stating that it led to Morris's swift apprehension and conviction. This case highlights the ongoing efforts by authorities to protect vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation within the community.
