Full Description

Mark Gale, a 48-year-old man from Milton Keynes, was convicted and sentenced following a thorough investigation by Thames Valley Police into serious sexual offences against children. The case, which came to trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, highlighted the severity of child sexual abuse and the importance of victim bravery in securing justice.

The offences occurred between July 2017 and February 2018, involving two young victims, both girls under the age of 13. Gale was found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict on 23 July 2018 after a five-day trial. The charges included one count of rape of a girl under 13, two counts of attempted rape of a girl under 13, one count of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual assault against a girl under 13. These acts constituted grooming and direct sexual exploitation of the vulnerable children.

On the same day as the verdict, Gale was sentenced to a total of 16 years and six months' imprisonment. The court recognised the profound impact of his actions, with the investigating officer, Detective Constable Victoria McEwen from the Thames Valley Police Child Abuse Investigation Unit, stating: "The sentence passed reflects the severity of Gale’s crimes against two children. He has never made any admission of guilt, or shown any evidence of remorse for his actions." McEwen also praised the victims, noting: "I would like to thank the victims for the bravery they have shown in coming forward and giving evidence in court. Their courage has ensured a dangerous man has been put in prison, preventing other children coming to harm at his hands."

The case was reported by UKNIP on 31 July 2018, underscoring Thames Valley Police's commitment to tackling child abuse. Gale, residing at The Hide in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, was immediately taken into custody to serve his sentence. This conviction serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to protect children from sexual predators within the community.
