Offence Summary

Liam Crosby groomed a vulnerable transgender teenager online, offering money for indecent pictures and videos, and was convicted of multiple sexual offences against children.

Full Description

Liam Crosby, 31, from Harewood Rise in Keighley, engaged in online grooming of a vulnerable transgender teenager, enticing them with offers of money in exchange for indecent pictures and videos. Despite claiming to be an online vigilante hunting paedophiles, Crosby was convicted at trial of multiple sexual offences, demonstrating a clear sexual interest in children.

The case came to light through investigations by West Yorkshire Police, who uncovered Crosby's communications and activities. At Bradford Crown Court, evidence presented showed his persistent and manipulative behaviour towards the victim, exploiting their vulnerability for sexual gratification. Crosby continued to deny his paedophilic interests even after conviction.

The judge deemed Crosby a high risk to children, resulting in an extended sentence that included both custodial and licence periods. This sentencing aimed to protect the public, particularly minors, from further harm. The trial highlighted the dangers of online predation and the importance of vigilance in digital spaces.
