Offence Summary

Kevin Neil Jones raped a young girl under 13 years old twice and sexually assaulted an older teenage girl under 18, showing no remorse for his depraved actions.

Full Description

Kevin Neil Jones, a 41-year-old resident of Bryneglwys Road in Wrexham, North Wales, was convicted at Mold Crown Court for a series of serious sexual offences against two young victims. The court heard that Jones targeted a young girl under the age of 13, committing five offences against her, including two counts of rape. He also sexually assaulted an older teenage girl under 18 in a separate incident.

The jury found Jones guilty of six offences last month, as reported by North Wales Live. During the sentencing hearing on 9 December 2025, Judge His Honour Rhys Rowlands described Jones's behaviour as 'shameful' and 'sordid', noting that he had taken advantage of his victims 'to satisfy your own sexual needs' in a 'depraved course of conduct' without any thought for their welfare or the harm caused. The judge highlighted Jones's lack of remorse and his denials and minimisation of the offences, which concerned the court.

The first victim, who cannot be identified, provided a victim impact statement detailing the profound effects of the attacks. She described how she used to be happy and giggly but now often feels numb and cries, battling thoughts of ending her life and questioning why she should be here. At school, she felt 'disgusted and ashamed', and at night, she suffers nightmares of the perpetrator 'chasing me with a knife', leaving her too scared to sleep.

The second victim also shared her statement, expressing feelings of shame that led her to turn to alcohol and drugs to numb the pain and forget the ordeal. Despite this, she is rebuilding her life with the support of her partner.

Duncan Bould, defending Jones, mentioned that he comes from a close-knit and supportive family and had helped relatives gain employment. However, the judge imposed a severe sentence, jailing Jones for 14 years on each count of rape (with one concurrent), 10 years each for two counts of assault by penetration (concurrent), and an additional 12 months consecutive for the sexual assault on the older girl, resulting in a total of 15 years' immediate imprisonment. Additionally, an indefinite restraining order was issued prohibiting contact with the victims, along with a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) until further notice, and Jones must register as a sex offender indefinitely.

The case was handled by North Wales Police, underscoring the severity of child sex offences in the region.
