Full Description

A dangerous sexual predator from Derbyshire has been imprisoned for nine years following a horrific rape he committed against a woman known to him. The attack took place in October 2022, when Parry Bains, aged 26 from Westacre Drive in Church Gresley, filmed himself raping the victim while she was asleep.

Upon waking, the woman was informed by Bains of what he had done. The following day, she discovered the disturbing video on her own phone, capturing the assault in explicit detail. Deeply traumatised, she promptly reported the incident to Derbyshire Police, leading to Bains' arrest.

The police investigation culminated in Bains being charged with rape in September 2023. He denied the offence, but following a trial at Derby Crown Court in October 2024, a jury found him guilty. Sentencing occurred on 7 November 2024 at the same court, where Judge [Name not specified] imposed a nine-year custodial sentence. Additionally, Bains received a restraining order prohibiting any further contact with the victim.

  • The offence occurred in October 2022 in Derbyshire, UK.
  • Victim reported to Derbyshire Police immediately after discovering the video.
  • Bains, described as a 'dangerous sexual predator' by Detective Constable Claire Partridge, showed no remorse during proceedings.

Detective Constable Claire Partridge, who led the investigation for Derbyshire Police, commended the victim's bravery in her statement: 'I’d like to commend the victim in this case for her bravery and thank her for the support she has provided throughout this investigation. I know it has been very difficult for her, particularly with it taking three years to now see this case to conclusion, but she has remained determined to ensure that Bains was brought to justice for his crimes.' Partridge further highlighted the severity of Bains' actions, stating: 'Bains is clearly a dangerous sexual predator who simply cannot take no for an answer and his behaviour towards this woman was nothing short of horrific. The impact of his crimes will continue to affect her for years to come.'

This case underscores the importance of reporting sexual offences, as emphasised by the investigating officer. The conviction was reported by the Derbyshire Times on 20 November 2024, drawing attention to the ongoing challenges faced by victims in seeking justice.
