Full Description

West Mercia Police have released a custody image of Jose Martin Holden, a 32-year-old man from Kidderminster, following his conviction for serious sexual offences. Holden, of George Street, appeared at Worcester Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, August 1, where he was jailed for a total of 20 years.

Holden was found guilty after a trial held at Worcester Crown Court from June 9 to June 13. The jury convicted him on two counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault. He was acquitted of one count of attempting to assault by penetration. The offences involved multiple victims, with one victim delivering a poignant impact statement in court, describing how the delays in the case had felt like serving a four-year sentence herself. She stated: 'The consequences of his actions have rippled into every part of my life. You've destroyed parts of me, but you will not destroy the new life I am beginning.'

During sentencing, His Honour Judge Jackson labelled Holden a dangerous offender, rejecting mitigation from the defence concerning his learning difficulties. The judge highlighted Holden's dehumanising language towards women during his arrest, remarking: 'You have no insight into your behaviour... There is a significant risk of you causing further harm to other women.' Holden received 20 years' imprisonment for the first count of rape, with an additional five years on extended licence. Concurrent sentences included eight years for assault by penetration, two years for sexual assault, and 10 years for the second count of rape. He must serve at least two-thirds of the 20-year term before eligibility for parole consideration.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Holden was issued an indefinite restraining order prohibiting direct or indirect contact with his victims. The case was investigated and prosecuted by West Mercia Police, who released Holden's image on August 4 to raise public awareness of the conviction. This reporting follows standard procedures for serious sexual offence cases in the UK, ensuring transparency while protecting victim identities.
