Offence Summary

Hardis Gindra, part of a gang that groomed and sexually exploited a vulnerable 15-year-old schoolgirl, was convicted of having underage sex with her on two occasions and jailed for one year.

Full Description

Four men, including Hardis Gindra, were convicted at the High Court in Glasgow for the grooming and sexual abuse of a vulnerable 15-year-old schoolgirl in 2015. The group treated the girl as a sex object, plying her with alcohol and cannabis, buying her lingerie, and engaging in sexual acts with her.

The offences occurred in June and July 2015 in Glasgow. Gindra was found guilty of having underage sex with the victim on two occasions, specifically on 13 June 2015 in an unknown location. The victim testified that she was introduced to the men by a schoolfriend and that they began speaking sexually to her after initially being polite.

Gindra, aged 27 at the time of sentencing, was sentenced to one year in prison and placed on the sex offenders' register. Judge Lord Armstrong told the accused: "You have each been convicted of the sexually exploiting and abuse of a vulnerable teenage girl who at the relevant time was only 15 years of age when this took place in June and July 2015."

The victim, now 19 and living in Glasgow, explained her association with the men stemmed from the attention, compliments, and access to drugs and alcohol, saying: "The compliments, the attention. I could get drugs and alcohol whenever I wanted." The case was prosecuted by Bernard Ablett, with the sentencing occurring on 17 March 2020.
