A Cleethorpes man, Andrew Davies, has been imprisoned for 19 years following his conviction for a series of heinous sexual offences against a child spanning more than eight years. Davies, aged 52, exploited the trust of his young victim for his own sexual gratification, committing acts that included rape, sexual assault, and incitement to sexual activity.
The case came to light through a thorough investigation led by retired Detective Constable Nicholas Pearce of Humberside Police. Davies initially denied the allegations but pleaded guilty on the third day of his trial at Grimsby Crown Court, which had commenced in June 2025. The charges to which he admitted included three counts of rape of a child under 13, two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault of a child under 13, attempted rape of a child under 13, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. Additionally, he was charged with possession of a bladed article.
Sentencing occurred on 3 October 2025 at Grimsby Crown Court. In addition to the 19-year custodial sentence, Davies received an extended six-year licence period, was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, and was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. These measures aim to protect the public from further harm by restricting his activities post-release.

I would like to commend the victim and their family who have showed nothing but bravery and courage throughout the course of the investigation and court proceedings whilst Davies continued to deny allegations.” Pearce emphasised the police's commitment to prosecuting such crimes, regardless of when they occurred, and encouraged victims to come forward. The investigation underscores Humberside Police's dedication to safeguarding children and pursuing justice in cases of sexual exploitation.
The offences took place over an extended period in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, though exact dates remain unspecified in public reports to protect the victim's identity. This sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the long-term devastating impact of child sexual abuse and the judicial system's resolve to deliver severe penalties for perpetrators.
