Offence Summary

Danny Boyle seriously assaulted a woman in Abergele and was also convicted of raping, strangling, and causing actual bodily harm to another woman in the West Midlands.

Full Description

Danny Boyle, a 26-year-old man from Wolverhampton, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on December 9, 2024, for a series of violent offences including rape, assault, and strangulation. The court heard details of two separate incidents involving serious harm to women.

In February 2024, in the West Midlands, Boyle attacked a woman who had refused his request for sex. Prosecutor Andrew Ford KC outlined how Boyle punched her arms and legs before striking her repeatedly with a metal bar. He then raped her, strangled her using a scarf, and threw an ashtray at her head, causing actual bodily harm. Boyle was convicted after a trial in July 2024.

Earlier, in early March 2024, while in Abergele, North Wales, Boyle assaulted another woman. He hit her in the face, grabbed her by the hair, and struck both sides of her ribs with clenched teeth. The victim contacted police, leading to Boyle's arrest at Abergele and Pensarn railway station. In her victim impact statement, the woman described Boyle as a 'monster' and shared how the attack resulted in her diagnosis of complex post-traumatic stress disorder, stating, 'I still wake up at night screaming or crying from nightmares. I don’t want to be scared anymore.'

Representing Boyle, Alison Scott-Jones highlighted his traumatic childhood and efforts to improve while in custody, including courses on cocaine awareness and healthy relationships. However, Judge John Edwards condemned Boyle as 'a highly manipulative, extremely volatile, and violent young man,' noting no remorse or insight during the trial. Boyle received a 15-year custodial sentence with an extended licence period, alongside indefinite restraining order, sexual harm prevention order, and sex offenders register requirements.
