Offence Summary

Benjamin Briggs sexually abused three young children and committed acts of voyeurism, leading to his imprisonment for 10 years at Hull Crown Court.

Full Description

Benjamin Briggs, a 40-year-old man of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Hull Crown Court for a series of grave sexual offences against three young children. He pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault on a child and three counts of voyeurism, resulting in a 10-year custodial sentence. Additionally, Briggs received an indefinite restraining order and was placed on the sex offenders register for life.

The investigation into Briggs began in June 2025 when Humberside Police received a report of voyeurism in Hull. As the probe progressed, officers uncovered further reports of historical child sex offences linked to Briggs, along with another separate incident of voyeurism. A previous investigation from 2018, involving a victim's report of child sex offences, was reopened in connection with the ongoing case. Briggs was arrested and interviewed in October 2025, during which he initially denied any recollection or sexual interest in children.

Detective Constable Adam Shaw, who led the Humberside Police investigation, commended the resilience of the three survivors. In a statement, he said: 'It is thanks to their resilience that we were able to stack up a significant amount of evidence against Briggs, ultimately leading him to decide to plead guilty and bringing him to justice.' Shaw further described Briggs as 'a sadistic and paedophilic man who subjected three innocent children to what can only be described as repeated, sickening abuse to fulfil his sexual desires.' The case highlights the importance of reporting such offences to ensure perpetrators are held accountable.

The sentencing took place on Friday, 23 December 2025, at Hull Crown Court, underscoring the severity of the crimes committed in the Hull area of East Yorkshire.
