Offence Summary

Peter Cox was jailed for 18 years after pleading guilty to multiple counts of indecent assault and gross indecency against a young girl in Milton Keynes between 1998 and 2002.

Full Description

Peter Cox, 66, of Brambling Way, Oxford, was sentenced to 18 years in prison at Amersham Crown Court after pleading guilty to six counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14, two counts of gross indecency with a girl under the age of 14, and two counts of gross indecency with a girl under the age of 16.

The offences took place in Milton Keynes between 1998 and 2002. Thames Valley Police described the case as complex and distressing, noting that the victim was a child at the time and was considered very young and vulnerable.

Cox was arrested in September 2018 and charged in November 2025 following a protracted investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit. He received a special custodial sentence for offenders of particular concern, meaning he will serve the full term without automatic early release, followed by a mandatory two-year extended licence period.

Specialist investigator Jo Simmons said after sentencing: “This was an especially distressing case, not only because of the nature of the offences, but due to the victim’s vulnerability and very young age at the time.” She commended the victim’s courage and resilience throughout the long investigation.
