Full Description

A 49-year-old man from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in facilitating and accessing child sexual abuse material from the Philippines. Richard Green, of Fir Close in Wath Upon Dearne, was investigated by the National Crime Agency (NCA) following intelligence from US authorities.

The court heard that between July and November 2019, Green exchanged over 350 messages with a woman in the Philippines, participated in 10 video calls, and received nine media files containing indecent images of children. He specifically requested live webcam sessions and indecent images involving the woman's nine-year-old daughter, sending payments in exchange for the footage. Further examination of Green's seized devices revealed conversations spanning from 2020 to 2023, where he engaged in sexualised chats about another girl aged 15. A total of 28 indecent images were recovered from his devices, including seven in Category A, the most severe classification.

Green was arrested in February 2024 after the NCA received evidence from US authorities in January 2024. Twelve digital devices were seized and forensically examined, uncovering the extent of his activities. He was charged with arranging and facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and possession of indecent images of children. Green admitted guilt at Sheffield Crown Court in August 2024.

On 9 December 2025, at Sheffield Crown Court, Green was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. He has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. NCA Operations Manager Holly Triggs commented: “Richard Green has been targeting children in the Philippines over a number of years, organising depraved abuse that he could access through a livestream. Green posed a significant risk to children. While he may have believed the distance between him and the abuse he orchestrated meant he would avoid detection, his crimes were uncovered with the assistance of policing partners in the US. The NCA will target and pursue UK child abuse offenders wherever their offending occurs.”

The investigation highlights international cooperation in tackling online child exploitation, with the NCA leading efforts in the UK to identify and prosecute such offenders.
