Full Description

A man from Kirkcaldy has been sentenced to nine years in prison for committing serious sexual offences against two women in a nightclub. Kenan Baki, aged 46, carried out his predatory actions between Friday, 1 September 2023, and Saturday, 2 September 2023, in the High Street area of Kirkcaldy, Fife.

The offences occurred in a nightclub where Baki targeted lone females. He spiked their drinks with an unknown substance, rendering them vulnerable, before raping one woman and sexually assaulting the other. The case came to light following reports from the victims, leading to a thorough investigation by Police Scotland.

Baki was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday, 30 September 2025, after a trial that highlighted the despicable nature of his crimes. He was formally sentenced on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at Kilmarnock High Court to nine years' imprisonment and was also issued with a non-harassment order to protect potential future victims.

  • Key evidence included CCTV footage showing Baki taking drinks to a toilet before returning and administering them to the women.
  • Investigators tracked his movements through the town to the location where the rape took place.

Detective Inspector Graeme Dursley of Police Scotland commented on the case, stating: “Baki is a sexual predator who drugged these women so he could take advantage of them for his own sexual gratification. His actions are despicable and he now faces the consequences.” Dursley praised the victims' strength throughout the process and commended the investigative team's dedication, which involved collaboration with a CCTV coordinator to build a robust case.

The conviction underscores the complexities of such investigations, particularly in gathering forensic and visual evidence in nightlife settings. Police Scotland emphasised their commitment to supporting victims of sexual offences, noting that specialist officers are available to assist those who come forward, no matter how much time has passed since the incident.
