Offence Summary

Deon Smith received explicit messages from Daryl German about sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl and subsequently raped her at his address in New Cross, Lewisham.

Full Description

In a disturbing case of child sexual exploitation in London, Deon Smith, aged 45, from New Cross Road, Lewisham, was involved in the rape of a 14-year-old girl in June 2025. After Daryl German had already assaulted the victim at his flat and involved Jordan Donely Wint, German sent explicit messages to Smith referencing the sexual contact with the girl.

The victim was then taken to Smith's address, where he raped her. This sequence of events unfolded after the girl was initially targeted while walking alone in Catford on 27 June 2025. The Metropolitan Police's investigation, prompted by the victim's report that day, quickly identified the perpetrators through digital evidence and CCTV footage.

Smith was arrested and charged in early July 2025. At Woolwich Crown Court in January 2026, he was convicted of one count of rape. Sentencing occurred on 10 April 2026, resulting in seven years' imprisonment and lifelong placement on the sex offenders register.

The case exemplifies the Metropolitan Police's commitment to rapid response in sexual offence investigations, with all three offenders convicted and removed from society, supported by enhanced digital forensics capabilities.

We are working to ensure all victim-survivors have the confidence to report these awful crimes by listening to their feedback and working with charities and partners across the criminal justice system.
