Offence Summary

Troy Tomlin raped and robbed two women at gunpoint in a flat in Birmingham city centre after arranging to meet one via an escort website.

Full Description

Troy Tomlin, a 27-year-old from Edgbaston, carried out a terrifying attack on two women in a flat in Birmingham city centre. He arranged to meet one victim through an escort website, but upon arrival, he pulled out a gun, demanded cash, and then entered another room to target a second woman. Tomlin raped both victims and threatened to find and kill them if they reported the crime to the police. The assaults involved four counts of rape, robbery, and possession of weapons.

The court at Birmingham Crown Court convicted Tomlin of four rapes, two counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, robbery, possession of a knife, and possession of cannabis. West Midlands Police investigations revealed the premeditated nature of the crimes, with Tomlin using the escort site to lure his first victim. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 17 years in 2025, as part of the region's severe punishments for sexual violence.

Key Details:

  • Weapons Used: Imitation firearm and knife.
  • Threats: Warned victims of death if they spoke to police.
  • Sentence: Life with 17-year minimum, reflecting the gravity of the sexual offences.

Birmingham Live reported this as one of the most heinous cases of 2025, underscoring the ongoing fight against sexual exploitation in urban areas.
