Omar Mehmoul, a sex offender from Windsor, sexually assaulted a woman in a car park after she left a nightclub. He was convicted and sentenced to four years in prison.

Full Description

Omar Mehmoul, a 36-year-old man from Windsor, has been jailed for four years following a sexual assault on a woman in a car park. The incident occurred late at night on April 21, 2024, after the victim had left a nightclub in Windsor around 3am. Mehmoul, who was identified as a previous sex offender, approached the woman who had become separated from her friends while walking through an alleyway.

The assault took place in a nearby car park where the victim sought refuge. Mehmoul sexually assaulted her by penetration, but she managed to break free and he fled the scene. Thames Valley Police tracked him down and arrested him on the same day. He was charged with sexual assault of a female aged over 13 by penetration on July 17, 2024, and stood trial at Reading Crown Court.

On July 23, 2024, a jury found Mehmoul guilty of the sexual assault charge. He was acquitted of an additional charge of rape. Sentencing occurred on October 30, 2024, at the same court, where he received a four-year custodial sentence. Detective Constable William Holbrook, the investigating officer from Thames Valley Police, described the assault as 'deplorable' and praised the victim's bravery in reporting the crime.

Quote from DC William Holbrook: 'I want to commend the victim for her bravery in reporting this crime and engaging with Thames Valley Police throughout what has been an emotionally challenging process. The actions of Mehmoul were deplorable. He knowingly committed an offence, demonstrating a deceitful intent.'

Holbrook further emphasised the police's commitment to supporting victims and holding offenders accountable, stating that removing perpetrators like Mehmoul from communities helps prevent further offences and enhances public safety. The case underscores Thames Valley Police's determination to protect women and girls from harm, as reported in the Henley Standard on November 3, 2025.
