Full Description

Tarelle Thompson, 28, from Croydon, was found guilty after a six-week trial at Guildford Crown Court on 10 December 2025 for his involvement in a violent gang kidnapping in Dorking. The incident, occurring on 26 April 2025, saw Thompson and accomplices abduct a man, subjecting him to extreme torture including sexual abuse.

Police responded to a neighbour's call after observing balaclava-clad men seizing the victim during lunchtime. The group took him to Reigate for initial intimidation involving blindfolding, force-feeding, and threats from dogs, then to Farnborough where the full extent of the abuse unfolded. Thompson contributed to the sexual abuse, physical beatings with punches, kicks, burns, whippings, a foot stabbing, forced crack pipe smoking, and spraying paint on wounds to exacerbate suffering.

Ransom demands were made to the victim's brother the next day, with police tracing calls to the Farnborough site, leading to arrests including Thompson's. A phone linked to the demands was recovered. Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey, Senior Investigating Officer, remarked: "While we located him the day after he’d been kidnapped, he had still been subjected to what amounted to torture at the hands of Armstrong, Burton, Love, Swyer and Thompson... their convictions have ensured they have been brought to justice for their heinous actions."

Thompson was also convicted of possessing an offensive weapon. Sentencing for him and co-defendants is set for 19 and 20 February 2026 at Guildford Crown Court. The investigation was led by Surrey Police, underscoring their efforts against organised crime in Surrey and East Hampshire.
