Offence Summary

Dawajan Ahmadzai sexually assaulted two nine-year-old boys in a Nottingham park by forcing one to watch pornographic videos on his phone and committing further sexual acts against them.

Full Description

Dawajan Ahmadzai, a 27-year-old Afghan man, was convicted of sexually assaulting two nine-year-old boys in Melbourne Park, Nottingham, in June. The incident involved Ahmadzai attempting to show one of the boys pornographic videos on his phone, leading to a struggle as the child fended him off. He was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act following a week-long trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

The jury reached a unanimous verdict in just over two hours, highlighting the strength of the evidence presented. The assaults left devastating emotional scars on the young victims, as described by their mothers in court statements. The case was prosecuted by Nottinghamshire Police, who commended the bravery of the boys in coming forward.

In sentencing, the judge imposed a three-year custodial term on Ahmadzai, placing him on the sex offenders' register for life and issuing a lifetime sexual harm prevention order along with a 10-year restraining order to protect children from further harm. This comprehensive sentencing reflects the severity of the child sex offences committed in a public park, ensuring the perpetrator's long-term monitoring and restriction.
