Offence Summary

Joshua Springer pleaded guilty to nine counts of rape against four women and three counts of making indecent images of children. He abused his position of trust at a care home in Lincolnshire to assault vulnerable residents.

Full Description

A 35-year-old man from Stamford, Lincolnshire, has pleaded guilty to multiple serious sexual offences, including nine counts of rape targeting four vulnerable women. Joshua Springer, residing at Cornstall Buildings in Stamford, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on 2 December 2025, where he entered guilty pleas to the charges.

The rape charges involved four victims: six counts evenly distributed among three women who were residents at an elderly residential care home in the Stamford area, and three counts related to a fourth woman at an address in North Yorkshire. Springer exploited his position of access at the care home to perpetrate the assaults on some of the most vulnerable members of society. In addition to the rape charges, he admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children, including material in the most extreme category.

The investigation began in late November 2024 when Lincolnshire Police received reports of sexual assaults against vulnerable individuals at the care home. Officers launched an inquiry, leading to Springer's arrest on 26 July 2025. He was charged shortly thereafter and appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on 28 July 2025, where he was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

Detective Chief Inspector Jennifer Lovatt of Lincolnshire Police commended the victims and their families for their courage throughout the process. In a statement, she remarked: "Springer’s actions show a clear lack of human decency and respect for the victims he targeted. He abused a position of trust and used the access he had to attack some of the most vulnerable people in our society." She emphasised the profound and lasting impact of the offences, noting that the police were determined to ensure justice was served by securing Springer's removal from the community.

Springer, who has also used the surnames Kearney and Kearney Springer, is scheduled to return to Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing on 6 February 2026. The case, handled by Lincolnshire Police, underscores the force's commitment to protecting vulnerable adults and pursuing perpetrators of sexual violence. To safeguard the victims' anonymity, the specific care home and North Yorkshire location have not been disclosed.
