Full Description

Ashley Mynott, a 25-year-old man from Baldock, Hertfordshire, was sentenced to six months in prison at St Albans Crown Court on Monday for attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child, attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, and voyeurism.

The court heard that Mynott had previously received a community order in September 2016 at Cambridge Crown Court for making indecent images of a child. As part of that sentence, he was required to attend Royston Police Station for a polygraph test in December of the previous year. During the test, in a conversation with an officer, Mynott admitted he might have images of a girl on his iPod, which was subsequently examined.

Examination revealed that Mynott had been in contact with a 15-year-old girl online and had engaged in conversations of a sexual nature with her. Deputy Circuit Judge Graham Arran was told how Mynott, who was 10 years older than the girl, encouraged her to perform oral sex on her boyfriend. He sent her a picture of his penis and requested a picture of her exposed breasts, to which she complied.

Further investigation of Mynott's electronic devices uncovered 12 voyeuristic videos filmed on a secret camera. These videos showed Mynott secretly filming a young woman in the bathroom as she showered, with the recordings spanning from 17 June 2015 to 22 November 2016.

During a police interview, Mynott admitted that he was obsessed with sex. Upon sentencing, he was jailed for six months and informed that upon release on licence, he would be under the supervision of the probation service. Additionally, he received a sexual harm prevention order to monitor his computer and internet use, and his name was added to the sex offenders register for seven years.
