Offence Summary

Mark Antony Sinclair, a convicted paedophile from Kettering, was jailed for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child decoy and breaching his sexual harm prevention order by using prohibited apps and possessing indecent images.

Full Description

Mark Antony Sinclair, a 36-year-old resident of Kettering, Northamptonshire, was sentenced to 44 months in prison at Northampton Crown Court for a series of sexual offences involving attempts to communicate sexually with children and possession of indecent images.

Sinclair had previously been subject to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) imposed by Wood Green Crown Court in 2022, following his admission to sending inappropriate messages to a police decoy posing as a child on the Kik messaging app. Despite this order, which prohibited him from using certain platforms and engaging in such communications, Sinclair reoffended on 16 May 2024. He attempted to send sexual messages to another decoy believed to be a 12-year-old girl, while also breaching his SHPO by accessing Snapchat, an app he was explicitly banned from using.

In addition to these charges, Sinclair admitted to creating and possessing indecent images of children. This included one Category C image made in October 2022, as well as one Category A image and four Category C images in 2024. Category A images represent the most severe form of indecent material under UK law.

His Honour Judge David Herbert KC presided over the sentencing last month, delivering the 44-month custodial term to reflect the gravity of Sinclair's repeat offending and the ongoing risk he posed. The case was reported by the Northampton Chronicle and Echo on 10 March 2026, highlighting Sinclair's history of targeting vulnerable individuals online.

Sinclair, formerly of Desborough and currently residing on Moorhouse Way in Kettering, demonstrated a pattern of deliberate non-compliance with court orders designed to protect children from sexual exploitation.
