Full Description

A man from Southampton has been imprisoned following his conviction for historical sexual offences against a child. Levent Joshua Cetin, aged 27, of New Road, Southampton, was found guilty at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, 12 September 2025, of two counts of rape of a girl under 13 and one count of sexual assault.

The offences, which were non-recent, occurred between 2011 and 2017 in the Romsey area of Hampshire. The victim was a girl known to Cetin during that period. The incidents came to light when they were reported to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary in March 2021, prompting a thorough investigation by the force.

At the sentencing hearing on Friday, 24 October 2025, at the same court, Cetin was jailed for a total of two years and six months. In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed a seven-year sexual harm prevention order and a lifetime restraining order to protect the victim and prevent future harm. Cetin was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring by authorities.

Detective Constable Iain Howard, who led the investigation, commented on the case, highlighting the victim's resilience: 'The victim in this case has had to live with the memory of Cetin’s awful offending for some time. I would like to commend her for the bravery and patience she has shown through the investigation and court process.' This statement underscores the challenges faced by survivors of child sexual abuse and the importance of coming forward, regardless of the time elapsed since the offences.

The case was prosecuted under the jurisdiction of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, with the trial and sentencing taking place at Southampton Crown Court. This conviction serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address historical sexual abuse, providing justice for victims even years after the events.
