A 25-year-old man from New Milton, Hampshire, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for committing serious child sex offences. Jack William Fry, residing on Gore Road, appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday, 17 July 2024, where he received his custodial sentence following a guilty plea to charges of rape and sexual assault of a child under 13.

The offences took place in March 2024, highlighting a rapid progression through the justice system. According to reports from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, the case was reported to police, leading to a conviction within just two weeks and sentencing within four months. This swift action underscores the authorities' commitment to addressing child abuse allegations promptly and effectively.

Detective Constable David Sloan, from the Child Abuse Investigation Team, commented on the outcome: 'I am so pleased for the young victim in this case that justice has now been served for them and their family, and that Fry has now been placed behind bars, where he belongs.' Sloan also praised the victim's courage, noting their determination throughout the process, and thanked all involved in securing the conviction.

In addition to the prison term, Fry will be subject to a 12-month extended period of supervision upon his release and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to mitigate future risks. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary to protect children and bring perpetrators to justice, with Sloan emphasising: 'This should also be a very clear message to other offenders out there that we will always work tirelessly to ensure you are brought to justice.'
