David Simpson, a 69-year-old resident of Malting End in Wickhambrook, Suffolk, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Newmarket on Tuesday, where he admitted to one charge of voyeurism. The court heard that Simpson had used devices to secretly record another person engaging in a private act without their consent over a prolonged period spanning from May 1, 2004, to December 31, 2012—totalling eight years and eight months.

According to court documents, the recordings were made at unknown locations specifically for the purpose of Simpson's sexual gratification, with the full knowledge that the victim did not consent to being recorded in this manner. The admission came as part of proceedings reported by the East Anglian Daily Times, highlighting the secretive and invasive nature of the offence.

During the hearing, it was decided that sentencing would not proceed on the day. Instead, Simpson was instructed to return to court on January 2 for the completion of a pre-sentence report. The magistrate warned that the report would consider all options, explicitly including the possibility of a prison sentence.
