Full Description

Andrew Hart, a 29-year-old resident of Thistle Close in Ipswich, Suffolk, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on 9 March 2024 for a plea and trial preparation hearing. During the proceedings, Hart pleaded guilty to a series of serious sex offences, including the incitement of a child to engage in sexual activity. Specifically, in January 2024, he admitted to coercing a nine-year-old boy to send him a naked photograph of himself and to touch his younger sibling, actions that constituted causing or inciting the child to engage in sexual activity.

In addition to these charges, Hart confessed to six counts of making indecent images and movies of children. The materials included 426 movies and 49 images categorised as level A, the most serious classification; 352 movies and 99 images in category B; and 83 movies and 23 images in the least severe category C. These offences highlight a pattern of possession and creation of child sexual abuse material.

Hart also admitted to four breaches of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) imposed by Ipswich Crown Court in 2021. The breaches involved him communicating online with a boy, despite being prohibited from doing so, and accessing social media platforms TikTok and Snapchat, which were restricted under the order. This SHPO had been put in place following prior convictions, underscoring Hart's history of sexual offending.

The court hearing was reported by the Ipswich Star, with court reporter Jane Hunt detailing the admissions. An image provided by Suffolk Police accompanied the coverage, depicting Hart in connection with the case. Hart's sentencing is scheduled for 22 May 2024 at Ipswich Crown Court, where the judge will determine the appropriate punishment for these grave offences. The case was investigated by Suffolk Constabulary, the local police force responsible for policing Suffolk, including Ipswich.
