Offence Summary

Joshua Green, a 28-year-old man from Chesterfield, was jailed for 16 months after admitting to possessing over 70 indecent images of children and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

Full Description

A Chesterfield man described as a paedophile has been imprisoned following his possession of numerous indecent images of children. Joshua Green, aged 28, appeared before Derby Crown Court where he faced charges related to child sexual exploitation material.

The court heard that between June 2023 and December 2024, Green acquired a total of 74 indecent images categorised by severity: 17 in category A, the most serious; 16 in category B; and 41 in category C. Additionally, he possessed two extreme pornographic images. Green, formerly residing on Devonshire Road North in New Whittington, pleaded guilty to making these images and to breaching a sexual harm prevention order imposed on him previously.

During the sentencing on Friday, 23 January 2026, Judge Jonathan Bennett at Derby Crown Court imposed a custodial sentence of 16 months on Green. The judge highlighted the gravity of the offences, noting the harm caused to child victims depicted in the images. Prosecutors detailed how the material was discovered during an investigation by Derbyshire Constabulary, which led to Green's arrest.

  • Green admitted to 17 category A indecent images
  • 16 category B indecent images
  • 41 category C indecent images
  • 2 extreme pornographic images
  • Breach of sexual harm prevention order

This case underscores ongoing efforts by UK authorities to combat the distribution and possession of child abuse imagery online. Derbyshire Constabulary's digital forensics team played a key role in uncovering the evidence. Green will also be subject to registration on the sex offenders' register upon release, as per standard procedures for such convictions.
