Full Description

Adrian Waring, a 35-year-old man from St Helens, committed heinous acts of child sexual abuse that detectives described as acts of 'cruelty and depravity' impossible to comprehend. The offences took place in St Helens, Merseyside, where Waring targeted a defenceless baby girl under the age of 12 months. He raped the infant twice and recorded the appalling crimes on video for his own gratification.

Waring appeared at Liverpool Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to a series of grave charges. These included two counts of rape, six counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of sexual assault, possession of extreme pornography, sexual activity with a living animal, and possession of a controlled Class A drug, cocaine. The court heard details of the extreme nature of the offences, which involved the most vulnerable of victims.

On Thursday, Waring was sentenced to an extended term of 22 years and eight months. This comprised a custodial sentence of 14 years and eight months in prison, followed by eight years on licence. He was also subjected to an indefinite restraining order and an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. Additionally, Waring must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and serve at least two-thirds of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Saidi of Merseyside Police commented on the case, stating: 'The cruelty and depravity Waring inflicted on his victim is impossible to comprehend. He put an innocent and defenceless baby through the most harrowing ordeal purely for his own depraved gratification.' The sentencing reflects the severity of the crimes, ensuring Waring faces significant consequences for his actions against the child.
