Full Description

Nigel Trevor Arismandez, a 48-year-old resident of Hexham, Northumberland, has been convicted of a serious sexual assault against an underage victim. The incident occurred on 10 May 2023, when Arismandez targeted and attacked the teenager, leaving them deeply traumatised.

Following the assault, the brave victim promptly contacted their family, who alerted Northumbria Police, initiating a thorough investigation. Officers arrested Arismandez shortly thereafter. During his police interview, the 48-year-old refused to cooperate and denied any involvement in the crime. On 10 November 2023, after a full trial, Arismandez was found guilty on one count of sexual assault. He was immediately remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court in early 2024. The case highlights the determination of Northumbria Police in pursuing justice for victims of sexual offences against children.

Detective Constable Natasha Wilson of Northumbria Police commented on the conviction, stating: "This was a hugely distressing case in which Arismandez targeted his under-age victim and carried out a horrifying attack." She praised the victim's courage, adding: "I would like to thank the victim and their family for having the courage to contact our officers.
