Offence Summary

Mobarak Almutairi was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to 20 counts of sexual offences against children, including sexual assault, outraging public decency, and possession of thousands of indecent images of children.

Full Description

Mobarak Almutairi, a 19-year-old resident of Whitworth Street West in Manchester, has been sentenced to three years and eight months' imprisonment at Manchester Crown Court on 16 September 2025, following a thorough investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Criminal Investigation Department into a series of sexual offences spanning four years.

The investigation began in February 2025 when Almutairi was arrested after following three young girls into a shop on Market Street in Manchester and sexually assaulting one of them by inappropriately touching her. Officers used CCTV footage to identify and apprehend Almutairi, during which they seized his electronic devices. Analysis of these devices revealed not only a recording of the Market Street assault but also nearly 4,000 indecent images of children, many of which Almutairi had created himself. These images documented a history of sexual abuse against children both in the UK and abroad, with some victims as young as eight years old.

Almutairi pleaded guilty to 20 counts of sexual offences, encompassing sexual assault, outraging public decency, and indecent image offences. In addition to his custodial sentence, he has been placed on the sex offenders' register for life and issued with a sexual harm prevention order. The police meticulously reviewed the evidence to identify the victims and ensure they and their families received appropriate protection and support.

Detective Constable Emily Morton of the Criminal Investigation Department commented: 'Child protection is our utmost priority, and ensuring the victims identified in this case were fully supported was the first and most important task under this investigation. The level of offending and disregard for these children shows just how dangerous an offender Almutairi is, and the streets are much safer with him in prison.' Greater Manchester Police emphasised their commitment to investigating all reports of sexual assault thoroughly to bring perpetrators to justice.

This case, reported by Greater Manchester Police on 22 October 2025, highlights the ongoing efforts to combat child sexual exploitation through detailed digital forensics and victim safeguarding.
