Offence Summary

Adam Twaites engaged in sexual communication with two underage girls in Herefordshire and was sentenced to a community order with 250 hours of unpaid work.

Full Description

Adam Twaites, a 31-year-old resident of Wessington Drive in Hereford, appeared before magistrates in October for sentencing after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child. The offences occurred in Herefordshire, where Twaites intentionally communicated in a sexual manner with two girls, both under the age of 16.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Blacklock informed the court that the first incident involved a girl under 16 between 1 April 2024 and 6 May 2024. The second offence targeted another girl under 16 from 30 April to 8 May 2024. These communications were explicitly sexual in nature, leading to Twaites being classified as a sex offender.

Upon sentencing, Twaites received a community order requiring him to complete 250 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for five years and subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his use of the internet and devices. Additionally, he was required to pay £114 in prosecution costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

The case was heard at a magistrates' court in Hereford, highlighting the authorities' commitment to addressing child sexual exploitation in the region. West Mercia Police, responsible for Herefordshire, investigated the matter following reports of the inappropriate communications.
