Offence Summary

Jamal Jeng violently assaulted and raped a woman over several months while living in Bedford, culminating in a brutal attack investigated by Bedfordshire Police.

Full Description

Jamal Jeng, a 28-year-old man from Medhurst, Milton Keynes, was sentenced to life imprisonment at Luton Crown Court on 9 January 2026 for a series of violent assaults and a rape committed against a woman in Bedford.

The offences occurred over several months in 2025, during which Jeng, who was living in Bedford at the time, subjected the victim to escalating abuse. The court heard evidence of multiple attacks, including strangulation and assault, that preceded the final brutal rape. These incidents reflected Jeng's need for power and domination, as noted by the judge during sentencing.

Detectives from Bedfordshire Police’s specialist Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) team investigated the case following reports from the victim. Jeng was convicted in October 2025 of rape, strangulation, and assault. The victim provided crucial testimony in a victim impact statement, stating: “I know my life will never be the same after what he did to me and how he made me feel. It has changed me beyond recognition. I will never go back to the person I was. This period of my life is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

Detective Constable Stefania Digirolamo, the lead investigator, described the attacks as a shocking series of attacks culminating in a brutal rape. She commended the victim's bravery, which was vital in securing the conviction. Jeng must serve a minimum of eight years before being considered for parole.

The case was reported by Bedfordshire Police on 12 January 2026, highlighting their zero-tolerance approach to violence against women and girls in the county.
