Logan Donald, known as the 'Demon DJ', was unmasked as a serial child sex offender who exploited his position as a DJ at children's parties to gain access to young victims. Employed by D3mon Discos in Falkirk, Donald performed at events across central Scotland, entertaining thousands of children while concealing his predatory behaviour. The 18-year-old targeted vulnerable teenagers online, using platforms like Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and TikTok to befriend and manipulate them.
Between January 2020 and October 2021, when Donald was aged 14 to 16, he contacted three 13-year-old girls. In the first case, he initiated communication in January 2020, building a 12-week online 'relationship' where he professed love daily. The victim, concerned for his welfare, sent an image of her naked chest. When she refused further demands, Donald faked self-harm using jam on his arms and threatened suicide, even sending a video of himself near a bridge, leaving her believing he had taken his life for a week. The second victim was coerced into sending a photo in her underwear after Donald requested swimsuit images; he then sent explicit photos of himself and demanded more, threatening to post her image online. The third victim, contacted via TikTok in May 2020, was repeatedly asked for naked pictures and relented, only for Donald to demand additional images under threat of public exposure. This campaign ended when she informed her parents, leading to police involvement.
- Police cybercrime experts recovered child abuse videos from Donald's phone, including Category A material—the most severe level.
- Additional videos featured Donald with girls under 18, recorded via mobile phone and FaceTime calls where victims exposed themselves and performed sex acts while Donald watched and participated.
- One victim suffered severe trauma, attempting suicide three times, developing an eating disorder, experiencing nightmares, fearing to leave home, and seeing her school grades decline.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court in April 2023, Donald pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children and threatening to share images of his victims. The offences occurred at his home in East Lothian, Midlothian, and Edinburgh. Fiscal depute Joanna Walling detailed the communications and coercion tactics during the hearing. The court was told Donald may face jail time. He was placed on the sex offenders' register immediately, with full sentencing scheduled for 24 May 2023.
Donald was only sacked from D3mon Discos after his crimes were reported in the Daily Record in April 2023. Company owner Stuart Hall, 51, from Tullibody near Alloa, expressed horror in a statement to the Daily Record: 'I was told by one of his relatives that he’d been charged with sending text messages but I wasn’t told about the sexual threats or the pornography he he downloading. I’m furious I was left in the dark.' Hall had employed Donald in 2019 for work experience at age 14, later making him a formal trainee after a background check. In a Facebook post on 6 May 2023, Hall announced: 'Due to recent events coming to our attention regarding one of our former employees, I will confirm Logan has been released with immediate effect and will no longer be anywhere near my house, never mind any discos. We are horrified and disgusted what we have read.' A mother of a girl who attended a party hosted by Donald told the Daily Record: 'The kids all loved this young DJ, who seemed perfect for the job. They all looked up to him and were in his spell and now I just feel sick that he was able to use this smokescreen to gain the trust of innocent children.'
The case highlights the dangers of online grooming, with Donald's dual role as a trusted youth entertainer amplifying the betrayal felt by families and the community.
