Ittefaq Yousaf was sentenced to 18 months for sexual assault and inciting sexual activity, plus two months for possessing and distributing indecent images of a child.

Full Description

Ittefaq Yousaf, 26, of Stanley Street, Rochdale, and younger brother of convicted rapist Ashefaq Yousaf, was sentenced to 18 months in jail for sexually assaulting one girl and inciting another to engage in sexual activity. Additionally, he received a two-month sentence for a separate offence of possessing and distributing an indecent image of a child. The sentencing took place at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court as part of Operation Doublet, Greater Manchester Police's investigation into Rochdale's grooming network post-2012.

Yousaf's crimes involved direct sexual assault on a vulnerable girl and encouraging another to participate in sexual acts, alongside his involvement with child sexual abuse material. These offences were linked to the broader pattern of exploitation targeting young females in Rochdale who were in vulnerable positions.

Judge John Potter imposed the sentences, with the court lifting reporting restrictions to identify Yousaf publicly. The case is connected to the same operation that convicted his brother and others, emphasising the familial and networked nature of the abuse in the area.
