Offence Summary

Along with an accomplice, Dukovskis kidnapped a drunk woman from a Ramsgate bar and took her to a house with intent to commit a sexual offence, though she escaped before the assault.

Full Description

Gaitis Dukovskis, 37, from Ramsgate, and his accomplice Marek Brokim, 46, were jailed for kidnapping a vulnerable, heavily intoxicated woman from Clique Bar in Ramsgate with the intent to commit a sexual offence. The incident unfolded in the early hours when the victim, at times unconscious from alcohol, was marched and carried away by the two men, who showed a complete lack of remorse and respect for women.

The pair took the woman to a nearby property in Kent Terrace, where she awoke to find her trousers unfastened, realising the danger of imminent rape. In a brave act, she pushed her attackers away, dialled 999, and fled, hiding behind a car while pleading for help. Officers, aided by the What3Words app, located her in distress. Dukovskis and Brokim were arrested at the property, both intoxicated, and claimed it was a 'misunderstanding', insisting they had left her alone when she resisted.

At Canterbury Crown Court, the men denied kidnap and intent to commit a sexual offence but were convicted by majority jury verdicts of 11 to 1. Judge Heather Norton described them as lacking remorse, sentencing each to four years' imprisonment. Upon release, both must register as sex offenders for 10 years. The victim fears she will carry the 'horror of that night' for life, as detailed in her impact statement.

Kent Police's investigation highlighted the men's predatory behaviour, with the court emphasising the terror inflicted on the vulnerable woman. This case, reported by KentOnline, underscores the dangers of nightlife exploitation and the effectiveness of emergency response tools in rescuing victims.
