Offence Summary

Luke Stanley, a paedophile from Sully, was jailed for 47 months after pleading guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order eight times and failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements by hiding a mobile phone and opening illegal Snapchat accounts.

Full Description

Luke Stanley, a 35-year-old resident of Sully in Wales, was sentenced at Newport Crown Court for multiple breaches of a sexual harm prevention order imposed following his prior admission to attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.

On 14 December 2023, Stanley had been made subject to the sexual harm prevention order after pleading guilty to the child incitement offence. At that time, he received a 22-month custodial sentence, which was suspended for two years, and was ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work. The order was designed to prevent further sexual offending by restricting his access to certain technologies and requiring compliance with notification requirements as a registered sex offender.

Despite these measures, Stanley repeatedly ignored the order. He breached it on eight separate occasions and failed to comply with sex offender notification requirements on one count. Specifically, he concealed a Samsung Galaxy S9 mobile phone from police officers and illicitly created Snapchat accounts, actions that violated the terms intended to monitor and limit his potential to engage in harmful behaviour.

At Newport Crown Court, Judge Carl Harrison imposed a sentence of 47 months' imprisonment on Stanley for these offences. The case was reported by the Penarth Times on 7 April 2024, highlighting the severity of breaching such protective measures. South Wales Police provided the image of Stanley used in the coverage, underscoring their role in the investigation and enforcement.

This sentencing reflects the court's commitment to upholding sexual harm prevention orders, ensuring that individuals with a history of child sex offences face significant consequences for non-compliance.
