A 40-year-old man from Winchester has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for committing multiple child sex offences against young girls in Eastleigh. Christopher Ben Dwan, residing on Romsey Road, Winchester, appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, 3 October, where he received his custodial sentence following earlier guilty pleas at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
The offences, spanning from February 2024 to June 2025, involved a series of serious sexual crimes against victims aged 13 to 15. Dwan admitted to 30 counts in total, detailed as follows:
Two counts of oral rape of a girl aged 13 to 15 Six counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 Two counts of operating equipment beneath the clothing of another without consent One count of recording an image under clothing to observe another without consent Three counts of engaging in sexual communications with a child Three counts of causing a child aged 13 to 15 to look at an image of sexual activity One count of causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity Various counts of taking, making, and distributing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children In addition to his 16-year prison term, Dwan has been subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender with the police indefinitely. Upon release, he will serve a further six years on licence, ensuring ongoing supervision.
The case was investigated by the Internet Child Abuse Team of Hampshire Constabulary. Police Staff Investigator Chloe Daniels commented on the outcome: “I am pleased for the young victims in this case that justice has now been served for them and that Dwan has now been placed behind bars, where he belongs.” She praised the victims and witnesses for their courage throughout the investigation and court proceedings, noting that their support was crucial to securing the conviction. Daniels also emphasised the police's commitment to pursuing such cases, stating: “This case should also be a very clear message to other offenders out there that we will always work tirelessly to ensure you are brought to justice.”
Dwan resided in Eastleigh at the time the offences were committed, highlighting the local impact of his actions. The sentencing at Southampton Crown Court underscores the severity of child sexual exploitation and the judicial response to such crimes in the region.
