Kaitlin Luna, a convicted sex offender, breached her sexual harm prevention order by using the Hangout social media site and failing to disclose her linked email address to her supervising police officer. Full Description

A convicted sex offender from Bicester has admitted to breaching her sexual harm prevention order by accessing a social media platform, prompting further legal proceedings at Oxford Crown Court.

Kaitlin Luna, 22, of Isis Avenue, Bicester, was subject to a sexual harm prevention order imposed by Portsmouth Crown Court in late 2020. This order followed her earlier conviction for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, after she was exposed by 'paedophile hunter' vigilantes. The breach occurred between March 6 and 9, 2023, when Luna used the Hangout website—a social media and messaging platform—without permission and failed to provide her supervising police officer with the associated email address.

In addition to the recent breach, Luna pleaded guilty to two charges from February 2019. During that incident, she exchanged sexually explicit messages with what she believed was a 13-year-old girl, but the recipient was actually an adult decoy operating within a vigilante group. These admissions were made before Judge Nigel Daly at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, April 26, 2024.

The court ordered pre-sentence reports to assess Luna's circumstances ahead of her sentencing, scheduled for May 6, 2024. No immediate sentence was passed, but the case underscores ongoing enforcement of restrictions designed to prevent reoffending by individuals convicted of sexual offences against children.

Thames Valley Police, responsible for supervising Luna under the order, were involved in monitoring compliance. The breach highlights the challenges in regulating online access for those under such restrictions, as reported in the article from This is Oxfordshire.
