Full Description

Jamal Mohammed Raheem-ul-Nasir, a 31-year-old man from Firthcliffe Grove in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for committing serious sexual offences against two vulnerable girls. The offences, which took place in 2010 and 2011, involved girls aged nine and 14 at the time, highlighting a pattern of exploitation targeting children.

The case was heard at Leeds Crown Court, where Raheem-ul-Nasir was convicted on four counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child. The assaults occurred at his house on Willow Street in the Girlington area of Bradford. Prosecutors detailed how he took advantage of the victims' young ages and vulnerabilities over an extended period, carrying out the attacks when the girls visited his home.

Raheem-ul-Nasir received concurrent sentences of four years for the offences against the nine-year-old and three years for those against the 14-year-old, resulting in a total custodial term of seven years. In addition to the imprisonment, he was made subject to a Sexual Offenders Prevention Order, which will remain in place indefinitely to protect the public from further risk.

Detective Constable Helen Riley from the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit commented on the case, stating: “Raheem-ul-Nasir took advantage of his victims’ young ages and vulnerability to carry out these attacks over a period of time.” She praised the bravery of the victims in coming forward and reporting the crimes, noting that the sentence should provide them with some measure of comfort.

The conviction underscores the commitment of West Yorkshire Police to investigating child sexual exploitation cases thoroughly. The offences were reported to the police, leading to a sensitive and comprehensive investigation by specially trained officers, ultimately securing the conviction at Leeds Crown Court.
