Full Description

A man from Ystradgynlais in Powys has been imprisoned following a conviction for a series of child sex offences committed over almost a decade. Kerry Price, aged 53, targeted a young girl, abusing her from approximately the age of five through to her teenage years. The case, investigated and prosecuted with the involvement of South Wales Police, highlights the devastating impact of prolonged sexual abuse on victims and their families.

Price was found guilty at trial of five counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, two counts of causing a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of sexual assault of a female, two counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, one count of taking an indecent photograph of a child, one count of voyeurism, and one count of recording an image under clothing to observe another without consent. Despite pleading not guilty to all charges, the evidence presented was compelling, leading to his conviction. The abuse involved a sustained campaign that exploited the victim's vulnerability during her childhood.

Detective Constable Stuart Sandy of South Wales Police commented on the case, stating: “Kerry Price showed no remorse at all for his actions, as is evidenced with his not guilty pleas. He thought he could get away with what he had done, but he was proven badly wrong.” Sandy further described the offences as “sickening and will have been a horrendously traumatic experience for both the victim and her family.” He praised the victim's courage, noting that “the victim and her family showed great strength by giving evidence at trial, compared to the defendant, whose defence the judge said, ‘at times bordered on the farcical’.”

The sentencing judge imposed an extended 14-year prison sentence, recognising the severity and duration of the offences. This outcome underscores the judicial system's commitment to protecting children from sexual exploitation and delivering justice for survivors. The case was reported by South Wales Police on 24 September 2025, serving as a stark reminder of the long-term consequences faced by perpetrators of such crimes.
