Offence Summary

Kadeem Bourne was part of a Coventry gang that trafficked and sexually assaulted two teenage girls after grooming them online, resulting in his conviction for rape and human trafficking.

Full Description

Kadeem Bourne, aged 23, was a key member of a Coventry-based gang convicted of heinous crimes against two teenage girls, involving human trafficking, rape, and sexual assault. The group, operating under the leadership of Waqaar Khan, exploited the victims through social media grooming tactics that promised enticing rewards but led to severe abuse.

The gang's modus operandi involved initial online contact followed by physical meetings where the girls were transported to locations such as parties or car parks. Alcohol and drugs were used to incapacitate the victims before the assaults occurred. Following a comprehensive six-week trial at Leamington Justice Centre, Bourne was found guilty on multiple counts, as detailed in the Coventry Observer article from 27 January 2017.

Bourne received a sentence of 13 and a half years imprisonment for two counts of human trafficking, one of sexual assault, and one of rape. He will be required to register as a sex offender for life. John Gregg, Director of Children’s Services for Coventry City Council, noted the importance of inter-agency collaboration, saying, “We listened to that criticism and the result is that five dangerous men are facing a long time in jail.” This case forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks involved in child sexual exploitation.

  • The exploitation relied on manipulation and control, often beginning with seemingly innocent online interactions.
  • Victim testimonies were crucial in securing the convictions.
  • Investigations continue to uncover further links in the gang's activities.
