Offence Summary

Mickey Boots, a paedophile from Yaxley, engaged in sexual communications with a 13-year-old girl by encouraging her to touch herself, requesting inappropriate images, and asking her to call him 'daddy'. He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court.

Full Description

A 28-year-old man from Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, has been imprisoned for over four years after targeting a 13-year-old girl in Lancashire through online platforms. Mickey Boots, residing on London Road, initiated contact with the victim on 18 March 2023 via Snapchat, falsely presenting himself as a 17-year-old boy despite the girl clearly stating her age multiple times.

The communications quickly escalated into sexual territory. Boots encouraged the girl to touch herself and demanded to see inappropriate images of her, sending explicit photos of himself in return. He instructed her to save his contact as 'daddy' in her phone and even called her while masturbating. These disturbing exchanges continued until 21 March 2023, when the victim reported the matter to Lancashire Police.

Following the report, officers from Cambridgeshire Constabulary attended Boots' home, arrested him, and seized his electronic devices. During his police interview, Boots became agitated upon hearing recordings of his conversations with the victim, accusing officers of antagonising him. He later pleaded guilty to charges of engaging in sexual communications with a child and causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity.

On 23 June 2024, at Peterborough Crown Court, Judge David Farrell sentenced Boots to four-and-a-half years' custody. Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. Detective Inspector George Neal of Cambridgeshire Constabulary commented on the case, stating: 'Boots took advantage of the victim to send horrific photos and pressure her into sending photos of herself, which is absolutely vile. Abuse, such as this, can have lasting and serious implications for victims, especially children, so I’m glad that this sentence will deter others from committing such offences.' The case underscores the dangers of online grooming and the swift action taken by police forces to protect vulnerable children.
