Offence Summary

Charlie Walker was imprisoned for a prolonged campaign of domestic abuse, including rape and assault against his pregnant partner.

Full Description

Charlie Walker, 33, from Godalming, has been sentenced to over 12 years in prison for rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour following a four-day trial at Guildford Crown Court. The offences spanned three years and involved severe physical and emotional abuse against his victim.

The court learned of Walker's systematic control, including a particularly violent incident where he assaulted and raped the woman while she was pregnant. Surrey Police's Sexual Offences Investigation Team uncovered over 100 abusive voicemails containing threats, expletives, and slurs. In a three-month period, he made more than 1,200 calls to her, many abusive in nature. Medical records showed the victim required hospital treatment multiple times for injuries, including significant bruising.

Despite denying all allegations through a pre-prepared statement and no-comment interviews after his June 2024 arrest, compelling witness testimonies established the pattern of abuse. Walker was found guilty on 5 September 2024 and sentenced to 12 years and six months' imprisonment, along with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and lifelong registration on the Sex Offenders Register.
