Offence Summary

Joseph Thomas was jailed for coercive and controlling behaviour, including forcing a woman to act out his rape fantasies involving simulated father-daughter scenarios.

Full Description

Joseph Thomas, a mechanic from Stanford Le Hope employed by Redbridge Council, was convicted at Basildon Crown Court of coercive and controlling behaviour after subjecting a woman to persistent demands to fulfil his extreme sexual fantasies.

Thomas admitted to police that he enjoyed 'simulating father-daughter rape', pressuring women to pretend to be little girls during sexual encounters. He sent explicit text messages to his victim detailing his enjoyment of beating women with whips until they bled and cried, and watching bruises form on their skin. He also demanded sex three times per day, claiming he could easily find another partner if refused, and required his partner to prepare lunch and dinner daily.

The jury learned of Thomas's prior convictions for domestic violence, underscoring a pattern of abusive behaviour. His actions were described as controlling and harmful, leading to his imprisonment for the offences committed against the victim.
