Paul Farrant downloaded thousands of indecent images of children and extreme pornographic images involving animals. He admitted to the offences and his sentencing was postponed to March 2026.

Full Description

Paul Farrant, a 63-year-old resident of Clenchwarton in Norfolk, was involved in a case concerning the possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography. The offences came to light following a referral from Northampton police to Norfolk Police, who identified an IP address linked to Farrant as having accessed thousands of such materials leading up to 22 March 2025.

Farrant appeared at Lynn Magistrates' Court in December 2025, where he admitted to making 412 Category A, 224 Category B, and 2,394 Category C images and videos of children. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to possessing 27 extreme pornographic images depicting a person performing an act of intercourse with a dog. These admissions highlighted the severity of the material involved, with Category A images representing the most serious depictions of child sexual abuse.

Originally scheduled for sentencing at Lynn Magistrates' Court on 12 February 2026, the hearing was postponed and rescheduled for 16 March 2026 at Norwich Crown Court. This delay was reported by the Lynn News, emphasising the ongoing judicial process. Norfolk Police's investigation was prompted by intelligence sharing with Northampton colleagues, underscoring collaborative efforts to combat online child exploitation.

The case has drawn attention to the challenges in addressing digital child sexual abuse material within the United Kingdom, with Farrant's actions occurring in a domestic setting in Clenchwarton, near King's Lynn. No further details on the sentencing outcome were available at the time of reporting, but the admissions confirm the gravity of the charges under UK law regarding indecent images and extreme pornography.
