Lewis Dean Pearce was jailed for six years after being found guilty of raping a woman while she slept at a friend's address in Colden Common in 2021.

Full Description

A 23-year-old man from Southampton, Lewis Dean Pearce, has been sentenced to six years in prison for the rape of a woman in her 20s. The incident occurred on 25 April 2021 at a friend's address on Elder Green in Colden Common, Hampshire.

Pearce, residing on Gort Crescent in Southampton, appeared before Guildford Crown Court on 1 October 2025, following a four-day trial that concluded with his guilty verdict on 6 August 2025. The court heard that the victim woke to discover Pearce engaging in sexual intercourse with her while she was asleep. This predatory act highlighted the vulnerability of the victim in a trusted environment.

Pearce was formally charged with rape in February 2024 by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. The investigation was led by DC Jack Droy from the force's Criminal Investigations Department. In a statement following the sentencing, DC Droy commended the victim's bravery, stating: "I would firstly like to commend the victim’s bravery and tenacity in this case. This has been a long investigation, and I would like to thank her for her support during the investigation and court process. I hope this result is able to bring her some closure." He further emphasised the intolerability of Pearce's actions, noting: "Pearce’s actions that night are intolerable, targeting a woman as she sleeps is not acceptable and we will work tirelessly to bring these types of predatory offenders to justice."

The case underscores the constabulary's commitment to handling sexual offence allegations with specialised teams, ensuring victims are supported throughout the process. Pearce's conviction serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences for such crimes, with the full six-year custodial sentence reflecting the gravity of the offence.
