Full Description

A sexual assault occurred in November 2023 at an office in Worcester, where Adam Malinski, a 48-year-old resident of Lear Close, targeted a female receptionist. The incident unfolded when the victim opened the office door for Malinski, who entered to wait and took a seat. According to court proceedings at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court, Malinski began staring at the woman and asking intrusive questions, such as what she was doing after work. The victim responded that she was going Christmas shopping with her boyfriend.

As she stood to open the door for him to leave, Malinski lingered in the doorway, acting as if he intended to kiss her. He then grabbed her arms and groped her in an unwanted manner. In her statement to the police, read aloud by prosecutor Liz Blacklock during the sentencing hearing on 23 September 2024, the victim described the contact as lasting about 15 seconds but feeling like a lifetime. She emphasised that the touch was entirely unwanted. After the assault, Malinski winked and waved at her as he walked away, adding to the distress of the encounter.

Malinski had been found guilty of sexual assault following a trial. At the sentencing hearing, his defence representative, Sam Lamsdale, stated that Malinski could not remember the incident due to heavy drinking at the time but expressed remorse. Lamsdale noted that he had since completed an alcohol treatment programme and significantly reduced his alcohol consumption. Chairman of the bench, Brent Robinson, imposed an 18-month community order, which included 30 days of rehabilitation activities. Malinski was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the victim, £620 in costs, and a £114 victim surcharge. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders' register, marking a formal consequence for the offence.

The case was reported by Worcester News, with details drawn from the court hearing. The victim cannot be named for legal reasons, highlighting protections for survivors of sexual offences in the UK judicial system.
